Hand Forged Sloyd with Oak Handle
I forged this sloyd style carving knife from high carbon 1084 tool steel. It has a hollow, “Scandi” grind which allows it to track easily to create flat planes. The hollow grind makes sharpening easier. I’ve been tweaking my handles for years. I’ve settled on this style which is faceted for good indexing and comfort, has a swell in the middle to fit your palm and a swell at the end to give you power and lock in your grip for big cuts.
This particular blade is a bit narrower which I like for tight areas. My hollow grind here isn’t perfect. That’s cosmetic and doesn’t effect function, but I’m offering it for less.
3.25” blade, 8” overall
